On Sunday, October 24, doctors advised Subrata to be admitted to SSKM Hospital for a medical check-up. He was taken to the ICCU in Woodburn Ward due to shortness of breath.


But the situation continues to deteriorate. Subrata contracted stent thrombosis on Thursday evening. He was transferred to ICCU. He breathed his last at 9:22 pm. He was 75 years old. He was in charge of four state offices.

Subrata was in charge of the state's information and culture department.

He left the Congress in 2000 and joined the Trinamool.

From 2001 to 2005 he was the Mayor of Calcutta Municipality.

He formed his own platform and contested the by-elections in alliance with Congress.

Mamata Banerjee got involved in student politics in the seventies with her hand. On hearing the news of Subrata Mukherjee's death on Diwali, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "I could not have imagined that darkness would descend on such a day of light." "We are all shocked by the death of Subrata," Hakim said.


Subash's successor Bikash Bhattacharya, who later became the mayor of Kolkata, said, "Despite political differences, he never indulged in hatred on a personal level. This is a big aspect of his character. BJP state president Sukant Majumder on Thursday night heard the news of Subrata's death.
