As predicted, the districts of North Bengal have been hit hard by heavy rains. Large areas of Siliguri have been inundated again due to continuous rains since late Sunday night. This time the Alipore Meteorological Department issued a red alert there. There is a risk of landslides due to heavy rains till next Wednesday. Besides, it is feared that the water level of mountain rivers may exceed the danger level. As a result, public life is likely to be disrupted.


Three houses have already been submerged in the Angrabhasha river. Elephant drain overflowed and flooded several areas of Binnaguri. 150 families were stranded. The water began to flow over the state roads. Water flows through about six tea gardens in Binnaguri-Banarhat. On the same day, five people went missing after their dinghy capsized on the river Teesta in Kenti's Changmari area in Malbazar.

Heavy to very heavy rains are likely in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kochbihar, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar. After receiving the forecast of Alipore Meteorological Department, the administrative officials also became cautious. Police and local administrative officers have also been asked to be ready.


It will continue to rain in the north as well as in South Bengal. On 12 June, the monsoon arrived in both Bengals. Since then, the rains are still trying to stop in the north. It's been a long inning this year. However, despite the rains in the north, the humidity discomfort in Kolkata has disappeared. The maximum temperature in Kolkata was 34.4 degrees Celsius. Which is 2 degrees higher than normal. The minimum temperature was 26.5 degrees Celsius. The weather will be like this for the next few days.


Heavy rains started in Jhargram from noon on Monday. Lightning strikes one after another. Five people have died in three such places. Not only that, but 22 people were also injured! It has been raining in Jhargram since morning. As the number of rain increases in the afternoon, so do the thunderstorms. The five died at three places in Jhargram in a series of lightning strikes around 1pm.
